I was born and raised in Highland Village, Texas. I have been going to church since the week I was brought home from the hospital, so I have grown up knowing many of the “right” answers but it was between my freshmen and sophomore years of high school that my faith really became my own. During those years in high school I became more involved with the youth group and discovered a desire to serve Christ in ministry. The relationships built and work done in that youth group changed my values and gave a me a kingdom minded focus as I went off to college.

I recently graduated from Johns Hopkins University, where I majored in Systems Neuroscience. While I was there I was able to get involved with a church that was near the campus and became a part of the student ministry team there. In January of sophomore year I got my first real taste of missions. Our college group from church went on a trip to Tres Rios, Costa Rica and it ended up being one of the most influential two weeks of my life. I came away from that trip with a love for missions and a desire to serve Christ in that way.

I spent the next few years trying to figure out what that meant. The summer after my junior year I found myself serving as an intern for LeaderTreks. I loved the mission and focus of LT, and came back from the summer extremely excited about what God had done in the students I was with all summer as well as what He had done in me.

Around this time another major even happened in my life. While at Hopkins I met the most beautiful woman, Bethjoy. It was during my senior year of college that wewere engaged, and are now married. During the engagement process we prayed and discussed what we would be doing and where we would be going once we were both finished with school. It was around this time that the staff from LT began talking to us about coming on board as a part of the summit team. After some time in prayer, we both agreed that God was leading us to LT and we have been extremely excited about this opportunity since then. We believe in LeaderTreks’ mission statement and in the impact that it can have in student lives and cannot wait to see how God works while we are here.
